Position Overview:
Recomme is seeking a skilled Repair Sewing Machinist with expertise in garment repair and upcycling. The ideal candidate should have strong sewing abilities, an eye for detail, and experience working with a variety of fabrics and repair techniques. This role focuses on extending the life of garments through high-quality repairs, supporting our mission of sustainable recommerce. Training and upskilling opportunities will be provided to enhance your skills in sustainable garment repair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair and Restoration: Perform high-quality repairs, alterations, and restorations on garments to extend their lifespan.
- Machine Operation: Operate a range of sewing machines, focusing on those required for repairs, including overlockers, flatbeds, and darning machines.
- Fabric Handling: Work with a variety of fabrics, understanding the specific repair techniques each requires.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed repairs to ensure they meet our high-quality standards before returning garments to clients or resale.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the repair and recommerce teams to ensure seamless workflow and meet project deadlines.
- Machine Maintenance: Regularly maintain and troubleshoot sewing machines to ensure they are functioning optimally.
- Training and Upskilling: Participate in training sessions to expand your skills in garment repair, with a focus on sustainable practices.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Entry level to experienced machinist.
- Skills: Proficient in operating sewing machines, especially for repair work. Knowledge of machines like overlockers, flatbeds, and darning machines is advantageous.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in all repair tasks to maintain the quality and appearance of garments.
- Fabric Knowledge: Good understanding of various fabrics and the best repair techniques for each.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to garment repair and machine operation.
- Communication: Team player with effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues.
- Willingness to Learn: Open to receiving training and learning new techniques for continuous professional development.
