Barrie Knitwear is looking for enthusiastic Trainee Handsewers to join their growing handsew team at the Barrie Knitwear site in Leicester. Reporting to the Leicester General Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career with a prestigious fashion manufacturer.
This role is perfect for those with some experience—or natural ability—in hand sewing luxury garments. Barrie Knitwear is seeking individuals who are passionate, committed, and eager to thrive in a fast-evolving environment. You’ll have the chance to learn and enhance your hand sewing skills, with full training and mentorship provided by their talented on-site trainer.

What will you be doing?
- Work on garments and/or bundles in accordance with instructions
- Handsew neck trims and pocket tops onto garments
- Handsew garments and attach accessories as instructed
- Handsew specific elements of garments to a high standard
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines
- Commit fully to the training process and work well with our onsite trainer
- Ensure that Health and Safety requirements are understood and adhered to
What will you bring to the role?
- Some hand sewer experience in a similar garment manufacturing role would be highly desirable
- Potential hand sewing ability and knowledge of sewing techniques and garment construction
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Patient and considerate of those around you
