Role Overview:
The Sewing Machinist will be responsible for operating sewing machines to assemble various apparel products. This role involves precise and efficient stitching of fabrics, working with different types of machines to meet product specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in garment production, attention to detail, and a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a variety of sewing machines to sew, assemble, and finish garments as per the production requirements.
  • Follow technical drawings, patterns, and work instructions to ensure the correct assembly and construction of garments.
  • Maintain sewing machines, ensuring proper functioning and routine maintenance is performed to avoid downtime.
  • Inspect materials for quality and report any defects or discrepancies to the production supervisor.
  • Work closely with the production team to meet set targets and production deadlines.
  • Ensure all garments are sewn accurately and meet the quality standards specified.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist in the training of junior machinists and provide support where necessary.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in the sewing process and overall production efficiency.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a sewing machinist in the apparel manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines (overlock, flatlock, coverstitch, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret patterns, technical drawings, and garment specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality garments.
  • Experience with various fabrics, including cotton, denim, and synthetics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with complex garment styles or luxury apparel.
  • Familiarity with garment finishing techniques such as pressing and folding.
  • Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
