Interactive Workshops & Repair Station Return to Leicester Made & Regions 2026
Supporting the core focus on UK heritage, skills and manufacturing, Leicester Made & Regions 2026, taking place Friday 24th April, will once again feature hands-on interactive areas designed to complement the exhibitor and industry experience. Visitors can explore practical skills, sustainable techniques and creative workshops that bring the garment making process to life.
Upcycling and Repair Station – All Day

Hosted by the expert team at the Fashion Technology Academy, the Repair & Upcycle Station invites attendees to rethink and rework garments. Whether bringing a piece from home or experimenting with materials provided on-site, visitors can learn practical repair techniques, try industrial sewing machines, and explore simple upcycling methods. Participants also have access to a curated selection of fabrics donated by ReFAB Studio, transforming surplus and luxury waste into high-quality, usable materials while promoting circularity and sustainability in fashion.
Fabric Manipulation & Textile Embellishment Workshops – 12:00pm & 3:30pm

Led by designer and educator John Herrera, these specialist workshops offer a deep dive into the art of surface design. Participants will explore techniques such as embroidery, beading, lace appliqué, ruching, smocking and quilting. Starting with an introduction to different fabric types and construction, learners can experiment with hands-on methods to create embellished textile samples. Suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike, the workshops are perfect for anyone looking to develop new skills, elevate a portfolio, or simply enjoy creative exploration in a supportive environment.
These interactive sessions reflect Leicester Made & Regions’ commitment to celebrating UK manufacturing not just through innovation and industry insight, but by putting creativity, practical skills and sustainable practice directly into the hands of attendees.
